Hello world!

My name is Craig Macaskill. I have been encouraged to say more about myself – well, to say how I can add to the gig economy.

After studying at the University of Natal (Pietermaritzburg), now University of KwaZulu-Natal, I was an instructor at the College of Educational Technology in Clubview (Centurion) followed by a teaching career in the Natal Midlands.

After nine years, and desperate for a change, I relocated to Gauteng where I played guitar on three projects before being given a National Arts Council grant to cover the matric poetry syllabus to rural schools in KZN, using music and drama.

I taught again from September 2000 – 2002, an IEB school in Senderwood, before leaving to pursue a career in publishing. This has mostly been as the editor of an agricultural publication, now the website, agribook.co.za.

Moving from a Department of Agriculture-sponsored print publication is quite a feat!
